Public Transport in The Hague (HTM)
If you only travel occasionally with HTM or if you’re only in The Hague and the surrounding area for a couple of days, HTM has various tickets that you can choose between.
An Uurnetkaart (hourly network card) lets you travel for 1 hour on HTM trams and HTMbuzz buses. Wherever you want to go. You are allowed to switch between them. This ticket costs €3.50. It can be bought from tram drivers and bus drivers (payment in cash) and in the machines in the RandstadRail tram (lines 3, 4 and 19) with coins only, and in the R-net trams (line 2 and 11) with coins, a bank card (Dutch or most European cards) or a credit card.
The HTM Dagkaart (one-day card) costs €6.50. The one-day card is valid all day on all HTM trams and HTMbuzz buses. One-day tickets bought in the tram or bus are valid on the day of purchase. They can also be bought at the HTM Service Points at the Den Haag Centraal and Den Haag HS stations, VVV Den Haag (tourist agency shop in the Stadhuis in the centre of The Hague) and at some hotels.
If you have bought a one-day ticket in advance, you have to check in and out at the card readers by the doors in the tram and bus, every time that you get on or off. The day of validity starts when you first check in at a card reader.
The sound (one beep) and green light signal indicates your card has been read. And always check out at the end of your journey. You check out by holding your card up to the reader device. The sound (two beeps) and green light signal once again indicates that your card has been read. Checking in and out is required when you transfer from any vehicle to another.
